La flotte (193 bâtiments) de Roland-Michel BARIN marquis de la GALISSONNIERE (1693-1756) part du port de Toulon pour l'expédition de Mahon dans l'Isle de Minorque le 8 avril 1756 ayant à son bord une armée composée de 23 bataillons avec un régiment et un train d'artillerie. L'armée était commandée par le maréchal de RICHELIEU.

Le livre de signaux qu'utilisait de la GALISSONNIERE montre le soin apporté par ce chef d'escadre pour rester en communication avec ses navires.

The fleet (193 ships) of Roland-Michel BARIN, Marquis de la GALISSONNIERE (1693-1756) leaves the port of Toulon for the expedition to Mahon on the Island of Minorca on April 8th, 1756, having on board an army consisting of 23 batalions with a regiment and a train of artillery. The army was commanded by the Marshall de RICHELIEU.

The signal book which was used by De la GALISSONNIERE, shows the care exercised by the commander of this squadron to stay in communication with his ships.
